Innovation and Investment in Focus as PM Modi Meets Top CEOs in Silicon Valley Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Engages with Silicon Valley Titans in High-Stakes White House Meeting
US: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet prominent business leaders from Silicon Valley at the White House today. The meeting will focus on discussing innovation, investment, and manufacturing in various technology sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, and space. Notable CEOs from both Indian and American firms, including Boeing, Amazon, and Google, will gather in the East Room for this significant encounter, scheduled at 9:05 pm IST.

Following the meeting, Vice President Kamala Harris and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will host Prime Minister Modi for a luncheon, further fostering the diplomatic ties between the two nations. One of the key discussions during the visit will be between Modi and Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun. This meeting comes on the heels of Boeing's recent announcement of a $100 million investment in infrastructure and pilot training programs in India. It is worth noting that Air India also signed orders for over 200 jets from Boeing earlier this week, which includes a mix of Dreamliners, 777Xs, and 737 MAX narrowbody aircraft.

Technology cooperation was a prominent topic during the bilateral discussions held by Prime Minister Modi on Thursday. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra emphasized that technology cooperation spanned various domains, including technology transfer, services, and collaborative research. These discussions laid the groundwork for strengthening technological ties between India and the United States.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi had the honor of addressing a joint session of the US Congress, becoming the first Indian leader to do so twice. The bilateral talks and the subsequent address to Congress have contributed to the overall strengthening of relations between the two countries.

To celebrate the visit, President Biden and First Lady Jill hosted a grand dinner on the South Lawn of the White House, inviting over 400 guests. The event brought together influential figures from various fields, including prominent tech leaders such as Tim Cook from Apple, Sundar Pichai from Google, and Satya Nadella from Microsoft.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United States has provided a platform for discussing and fostering collaboration in the technology sector, further solidifying the strategic partnership between India and the US.
