PM Modi's Visit to Madhya Pradesh: Promoting Health, Empowerment, and Engagement with Tribal Communities

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a visit to Madhya Pradesh on July 1st, 2023, where he will undertake a series of significant engagements aimed at promoting health, empowerment, and historical recognition.
One of the key highlights of the Prime Minister's visit is the launch of the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission. At approximately 3:30 PM, in Shahdol, he will initiate this crucial mission, which aims to combat the health challenges posed by sickle cell disease, particularly among the tribal population. By distributing sickle cell genetic status cards to beneficiaries, the government aims to make significant progress in eliminating sickle cell disease as a public health concern by 2047. The mission was first announced in the Union Budget 2023 and will be implemented in 278 districts across 17 states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, and Uttarakhand.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will kickstart the distribution of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards to approximately 3.57 crore beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh. This initiative, which will take place across urban bodies, gram panchayats, and development blocks in the state, is a significant step toward fulfilling the Prime Minister's vision of ensuring 100 percent saturation of welfare schemes. The Ayushman cards will provide beneficiaries with access to essential healthcare services, furthering the government's commitment to promoting the well-being of its citizens.

Moreover, during the visit, the Prime Minister will pay tribute to Rani Durgavati, the valiant queen who ruled Gondwana in the 16th century. Recognized for her unwavering bravery and fearlessness, Rani Durgavati fought against the Mughal empire in her pursuit of freedom. By honoring her legacy, Prime Minister Modi acknowledges her significant contributions to the nation's history and her role as a symbol of courage and resilience.

In a notable gesture, Prime Minister Modi will also visit Pakaria village in Shahdol district, where he will engage with leaders from the tribal community, Self-Help Groups, PESA committees (Panchayats [Extension to Scheduled Areas] Act, 1996), and Village Football Clubs. This interaction will provide an opportunity to understand the concerns and aspirations of these communities firsthand and foster an inclusive approach to development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Madhya Pradesh holds immense significance as it encompasses key initiatives aimed at improving healthcare, empowering communities, and commemorating the historical figures who shaped India's past.
