AAP MP Sanjay Singh Suspended from Rajya Sabha for "Unruly Behavior" during Manipur Violence Protest

Rajya Sabha Adjourned: Continuing Disruptions as Opposition Demands PM Modi's Statement on Manipur Issue
AAP MP Sanjay Singh faced suspension from the Rajya Sabha for the remainder of the Monsoon session on July 24 due to what was termed as "unruly behavior" during the Opposition's protest over the Manipur violence. The suspension came after Singh's actions in the House while the Opposition members raised slogans and called for a discussion on the situation in the violence-hit State.

As the commotion continued, Sanjay Singh was the only member seen in the Well of the House and moved closer to the Chair, which led the Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to "name" him for his behavior. Following this, Leader of the House Piyush Goyal moved a motion to suspend Singh for the rest of the session, stating that such behavior was against the ethics and rules of the House. He urged the Chair to take necessary action against Mr. Singh, and the motion was adopted by the House through a voice vote, amidst protests from the Opposition members.

Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar announced the suspension, stating, "The motion is that Sanjay Singh is suspended for the entire duration of this session for having repeatedly violated the directive of the Chair."

In response to the suspension, the Chairman adjourned the proceedings until 2 p.m. as the Opposition members continued to create uproar in the House. The Opposition was demanding a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Manipur issue during the session.

Sanjay Singh's suspension highlights the growing tensions and conflicts in the Rajya Sabha during the ongoing Monsoon session, with significant disagreements between the ruling and Opposition parties. The suspension is likely to impact the dynamics of the session and further discussions on pressing issues.
