AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Meets Telangana CM KCR to Discuss UCC and Pluralism

Owaisi expresses concerns over the proposed UCC, highlights the importance of pluralism in the nation

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi recently held a meeting with Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) to discuss various issues, including the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) by the BJP government. Owaisi emphasized that the UCC is not just a Muslim issue but also a Christian issue, as it has the potential to adversely impact the cultural diversity and pluralistic nature of the nation.

During the meeting, Owaisi expressed his concerns regarding the introduction of UCC and its potential consequences. He emphasized that the UCC, if implemented, could erode the pluralism that is an integral part of India's identity and cultural fabric. He further asserted that the UCC would not be in the best interest of the nation, as it goes against the principles of inclusivity and diversity.

Owaisi highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have shown a disregard for pluralism, which is one of the defining characteristics of India. He voiced his opposition to any attempt that undermines the rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions of the country.

Assuring his commitment to protecting pluralism, CM KCR assured Owaisi that the Telangana government would oppose the implementation of the UCC. The AIMIM chief also expressed his intention to appeal to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to stand against the proposed UCC.

Apart from the UCC, various other issues were discussed during the meeting between Owaisi and CM KCR. The leaders engaged in a constructive dialogue regarding matters of regional importance and exchanged views on the overall development and welfare of the state.

As discussions surrounding the UCC continue to unfold, voices of concern and opposition are emerging from various quarters, highlighting the need for a comprehensive and inclusive approach that respects the diversity and pluralism of the nation.

The meeting between AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Telangana CM KCR underscores the importance of open dialogue and cooperation in addressing significant issues that impact the social fabric and cultural identity of the country.
