16-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped and Blackmailed by Co-Worker in Delhi; Accused Arrested
Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old man identified as Salman, her co-worker at a toy factory in Delhi. The disturbing incident occurred on June 29 when the accused allegedly took advantage of the victim's trust and brought her to his brother's residence in Gurugram. There, he offered her a cold drink, and shortly afterward, she lost consciousness. When she woke up, she found herself unclothed.
According to the victim's statement, this was not the first time she had endured such a traumatic experience. Prior to the recent incident, Salman had reportedly subjected her to sexual assault on two to three occasions and further threatened her into silence.
The incident came to light after the courageous victim confided in someone she trusted, who promptly helped her report the matter to the police. On July 1, a case was registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Mundka Police Station.
The authorities acted swiftly, ensuring that the victim's statement was recorded before a Magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The accused, Salman, was subsequently arrested and is currently in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
In response to the incident, DCP Outer Harender Singh addressed the media, stating, "We take such cases of sexual violence with utmost seriousness. The victim's statement has been recorded, and we are committed to ensuring justice is served. We are working diligently to gather all necessary evidence to build a strong case against the accused."
