Gunfire Erupts Inside Train, Resulting in ASI and Passengers' Deaths

In a horrifying incident on July 31, 2023, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable unleashed a deadly rampage onboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express train near Palghar railway station in Maharashtra, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI).
The shocking event unfolded shortly after 5 am when Constable Chetan Kumar Choudhary, on escort duty, opened fire with his automatic weapon. The first victim was ASI Tika Ram Meena, his in-charge on the running train. The constable then proceeded to another coach and ruthlessly shot dead three passengers.
The tragic incident took place within the B5 coach of Train No. 12956 Jaipur Express. Reports indicate that after the rampage, the constable attempted to escape by pulling the alarm chain near Dahisar. However, swift action by the Government Railway Police and RPF officials led to his apprehension at Mira Road.
"We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate events that unfolded on the Jaipur-Mumbai Express today. Constable Chetan Kumar's actions have resulted in the loss of ASI Tika Ram Meena's life, along with three innocent passengers," expressed Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Western Railway.
