20 Fake Universities Declared by UGC; Highest Number in Delhi, Followed by U.P.

New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently declared 20 universities across India as 'fake,' sending shockwaves through the education landscape. Among these, Delhi tops the list with eight fake universities, while Uttar Pradesh follows closely with four universities receiving this dubious distinction. The UGC's efforts to curb the proliferation of fraudulent institutions aim to safeguard students' interests and maintain the credibility of higher education.

Delhi's Alarming Count of Fake Universities

Delhi stands out with the highest number of fake universities, with eight institutions appearing on the UGC's list. Some of the names that made it to the list include All India Institute of Public and Physical Health Sciences, Commercial University Ltd Daryaganj, United Nations University, Vocational University, ADR-Centric Juridical University, Indian Institution of Science and Engineering, Adhyatmik Vishwavidyalaya (Spiritual University), and Viswakarma Open University for Self-Employment.

Uttar Pradesh Under Scrutiny

In Uttar Pradesh, four universities have been deemed as 'fake' by the UGC. The institutions under scrutiny are Gandhi Hindi Vidyapith, National University of Electro Complex Homeopathy, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University (Open University), and Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad.

Bengal and Andhra Pradesh also Affected

The list also includes two fake universities from West Bengal, namely Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine and Institute of Alternative Medicine and Research. Andhra Pradesh also has two such universities, Christ New Testament Deemed University and Bible Open University of India.

Others on the List

The remaining four fake universities on the UGC's radar are Badaganvi Sarkar World Open University Education Society in Karnataka, St. John's University in Kerala, Raja Arabic University in Maharashtra, and Sree Bodhi Academy of Higher Education in Puducherry.
