The United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) has issued statements expressing support for Israel and announcing the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group to the region.
USCENTCOM Condemns Hamas Attack on Israel
In an official statement released on October 7, 2023, USCENTCOM expressed its strong condemnation of the terrorist attack carried out by Hamas against the people of Israel. U.S. Deploys USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group
On October 8, 2023, USCENTCOM made a significant move in response to the escalating situation by announcing the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group to the Eastern Mediterranean. This strategic move includes the deployment of the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60), as well as the Arleigh-Burke-class guided missile destroyers USS Thomas Hudner (DDG 116), USS Ramage (DDG 61), USS Carney (DDG 64), and USS Roosevelt (DDG 80).
Additionally, the U.S. has taken measures to bolster its aerial presence in the region, augmenting U.S. Air Force F-15, F-16, and A-10 fighter aircraft squadrons. USCENTCOM emphasized that it maintains ready forces globally to further reinforce this posture if required.
