Pakistani Fishing Boat Seized in Indian Waters: ICG Takes Swift Action

Indian Coast Guard Intercepts Pakistani Fishing Boat in Alleged Violation.
INDIA, 22 November 2023: In a recent development, the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Arinjay, on patrol in the Arabian Sea, detected a Pakistani Fishing Boat (PFB) engaged in fishing approximately 15 kilometers inside Indian waters near the International Maritime Boundary Line on November 21, 2023.

Upon confrontation, the Pakistani boat attempted to escape towards the Pakistani side. However, the ICG ship successfully intercepted the vessel, bringing it to a halt within Indian waters. Subsequent investigations revealed that the fishing boat, named Naz-Re-Karam (Registration No. 15653-B), had departed from Karachi on November 19, 2023, carrying a crew of 13 members.

The crew's inability to provide a satisfactory explanation for their fishing activities in the area raised suspicions. As a result, the ICG is taking the boat to Okha harbour for a comprehensive search, and a joint interrogation involving various agencies will be conducted.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by the Indian Coast Guard to maintain maritime security and prevent unauthorized activities in the region. Further updates on the investigation will be provided as they become available.
