New Delhi, 6 December, 23: In a significant parliamentary session, Union Home Minister Amit Shah voiced a resolute stance on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the need for a unified national identity. The discussion unfolded during deliberations on J&K bills in the Lok Sabha.
Shah addressed the assembly, questioning the feasibility of a country having two Prime Ministers, two constitutions, and two flags. He asserted, "Those who did this, they did wrong. PM Modi corrected it. We have been saying since 1950 that there should be 'Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Vidhan' (One Prime Minister, one flag, and one Constitution) in the country, and we did it."
The Home Minister's remarks were prompted by comments made by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy regarding the Jammu and Kashmir bills. Shah's intervention underscored the government's commitment to fostering a singular national identity and correcting what he perceived as historical anomalies.
