INDIA, 6 December 2023: In a recent statement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah shed light on the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2023. Highlighting a substantial decline in terrorism, Shah referenced historical data, stating that during the 1994-2004 period, 40,164 incidents of terrorism were recorded. This number decreased to 7,217 in the 2004-2014 period. Under the Narendra Modi Government from 2014-2023, there has been a remarkable 70% reduction, with approximately 2,000 incidents reported.
Shah attributed this decline to the abrogation of Article 370, emphasizing its role as the root cause of separatism and terrorism. The Union Home Minister's remarks underscore the government's commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region through legislative measures.
