In a series of controversial statements, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Fateh Bahadur Kushwahar has once again sparked outrage by making objectionable comments, this time directed at Maa Saraswati. Following his previous insults to Hindu deities, including Maa Durga and Bhagwan Shri Ram, Kushwaha's recent remarks have ignited fresh controversy.
During a press interview, Kushwaha described Maa Saraswati as characterless, suggesting that she should not be worshipped. His inflammatory statement has drawn criticism and condemnation from various quarters.
Addressing the media, Kushwaha questioned the worship of Maa Saraswati, stating, "It is written in your book that Saraswati is the daughter of Brahma, and he married his daughter Saraswati. So who are you worshipping? Of characterless gods?"
Adding to the contentious remarks, the RJD MLA urged the removal of pictures of Saraswati from schools and colleges. Instead, he advocated for images of Savitribai Phule, proposing that she should be worshipped.
This is not the first time Kushwaha has made controversial comments against Hindu deities. In a previous instance, he referred to Maa Durga as an imaginary character and questioned her presence during the British rule in India.
Similarly, Bhagwan Shri Rama was not spared from Kushwaha's critique, as he labeled the revered figure as fictitious. "There is no god bigger than Lalu Yadav. Lord Ram and all his characters are imaginary," asserted Kushwaha. He went on to reference a 1976 Supreme Court statement, claiming that the court declared Ramayana and its characters as imaginary.
Kushwaha further targeted Brahmins who organize pujas, accusing them of hypocrisy and promoting superstition.
The controversial remarks by the RJD MLA have led to strong backlash, with religious groups and leaders condemning the disrespectful comments. The comments also raise concerns about the impact of such rhetoric on religious harmony and public sentiment.
As the controversy unfolds, the statements by Fateh Bahadur Kushwaha prompt a larger conversation about the boundaries of free speech, religious tolerance, and the responsibility of public figures in maintaining social cohesion.
