New Delhi, 5 December, 23: In a recent session of the Winter Parliament, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP DNV Senthilkumar S stirred controversy with comments targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), specifically its electoral success in the Hindi heartland states.
Senthilkumar remarked, "The power of the BJP lies in winning elections primarily in the Hindi heartland states, or what we call the Gaumutra states. You cannot come to South India."
These comments follow the BJP's recent triumph in assembly elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, adding intensity to the ongoing political discourse.
Responding to Senthilkumar's statements, BJP MP Annapurna Devi asserted, "The people of the state have voted for BJP and have trust in PM Modi. Those making such statements display a shallow mindset and are envious of PM Modi's global popularity."
Jagannath Sarkar, another BJP MP, criticized Senthilkumar, emphasizing the BJP's nationwide acceptance. "Whoever is making such statements lacks knowledge. They are unaware of India's culture," Sarkar remarked, defending the BJP's broad appeal.
Sarkar further highlighted that Senthilkumar seems "unaware of India's culture," asserting that while PM Modi is a national leader, he has also gained recognition as a world leader.
The exchange in Lok Sabha underscores the political tensions and regional dynamics shaping discussions within the Indian Parliament. As the debate continues, the contrasting perspectives on the BJP's reach and influence reveal the complexities of India's diverse political landscape.
