KERALA, 22 December 2023: In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended the 11th suspect involved in a human trafficking case. This comes in the wake of the agency's successful crackdown last month, marked by extensive nationwide raids.
The arrested individual, Saudi Zakir, had been evading authorities since his residence was searched by the NIA. However, diligent tracking led the investigators to Zakir's hideout in Kochi, Kerala, resulting in his arrest.
Further investigations have unveiled that Zakir entered India illegally through Benapole at the Indo-Bangladesh border. Subsequently, he established a Waste Collection and Segregation Unit in the Bellandur area of Bengaluru, Karnataka. Notably, Zakir had employed other foreign nationals who had also unlawfully crossed the border into India.
This recent arrest sheds light on the complexities of the human trafficking network, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to combat such illicit activities. The NIA's relentless pursuit and successful apprehension demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding borders and ensuring justice in cases of transnational crime.
