Agartala, Tripura- 16 December, 23: In a proactive move towards fostering the growth of traditional artisans and craftsmen, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha actively participated in a workshop centered on the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana (PM Vishwakarma) in Agartala today. The gathering aimed to delve into the extensive benefits of this transformative scheme, emphasizing its potential impact on the lives of artists and craftsmen.

CM Saha, while addressing the workshop attendees, highlighted the numerous advantages the PM Vishwakarma Yojana brings to the artistic community. Notably, he stressed the scheme's commitment to providing comprehensive support, including training and various other initiatives to benefit artisans and craftsmen.

Additionally, CM Saha shared insights into the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji's vision for Garib Kalyan, emphasizing how the Vishwakarma Yojana aligns with this broader mission.

The Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in 2023, stands as a pivotal initiative dedicated to uplifting traditional artisans and craftspeople. This scheme is designed to facilitate the scaling up of their products and services, thereby contributing to their socio-economic development.

Key features of PM Vishwakarma include:

1. Access to Credit: Collateral-free credit, with an initial tranche of up to Rs 1 lakh for beneficiaries who have completed basic training and skill assessment.

2. Skill Training: Basic training spanning 5–7 days and advanced training of 15 days or more, accompanied by a stipend of Rs 500 per day.

3. Modern Tools: Provision of access to modern tools to enhance productivity and craftsmanship.

4. Incentives for Digital Transactions: Encouraging and rewarding digital transactions among artisans and craftsmen.

5. Market Linkage Support: Assistance in marketing themselves and their products, fostering wider reach and increased visibility.

Furthermore, the scheme acknowledges the contribution of artisans by conferring a PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card, with benefits tailored to their specific locations and individual circumstances.
