Congress Leader Addresses Divided Governance and Suffering in Manipur, Criticizes BJP's Absence
Manipur - January 14, 2024: In a significant event today, the highly anticipated Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra commenced at Thoubal in Manipur. Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, officially inaugurated the Yatra during a gathering at Khongjom in Thoubal.
Rahul Gandhi, addressing the crowd, expressed concerns about the current situation in Manipur. He emphasized that during his visit to the state, he witnessed a breakdown in the governance infrastructure, resulting in a divided Manipur and widespread suffering.
"Since 2004, I've been in politics, and for the first time, I visited a place in India where the entire infrastructure of governance has collapsed. After 29th June, Manipur wasn't Manipur anymore," said Gandhi, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Gandhi criticized the absence of the Indian Prime Minister in Manipur during this challenging period, stating, "And till now, the Indian PM has not come here to wipe your tears and hold your hand. It is a shameful thing."
Labeling Manipur as a symbol of BJP's hate politics, Gandhi asserted, "Manipur is a symbol of BJP's politics, Manipur is a symbol of BJP and RSS's hatred. Manipur is a symbol of BJP's viewpoint and ideology."
Assuring the people of Manipur, Gandhi pledged that the Congress party would work towards restoring peace and harmony in the troubled state.
The day's agenda includes a break at Koirengei Bazar in Imphal and an overnight stay at the Koujengleima Sports Association Football Ground in Imphal's Sekmai.
The Congress party clarified that the purpose of the yatra is to end the "anyay kaal" (era of injustice) under the Narendra Modi-led government, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Rahul Gandhi, leading the Yatra over 67 days, aims to engage with various societal groups, including farmers, laborers, Dalits, tribals, among others. The transformative yatra is set to cover 6,713 km, passing through 100 Lok Sabha constituencies in 15 states, spanning 110 districts over 67 days. The march is anticipated to conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21.

In his tweet, Gandhi outlined the vision of 'Bharat Ka Vizan,' emphasizing equality, brotherhood, and goodwill, with no room for hatred, violence, or unilateral power.
