Delhi, 26 March, 24: Amidst the escalating legal troubles faced by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the state's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President, Virendraa Sachdeva, launched scathing accusations against the AAP leader, alleging corruption and maladministration. Sachdeva asserted that Kejriwal's tenure as CM has been marred by dishonesty and exploitation of the people of Delhi, leading to widespread discontent among the populace.
Speaking at a press conference, Sachdeva declared, "The CM of Delhi is corrupt and dishonest, and he has looted the people of Delhi. We are going to the Secretariat to demand his resignation." He further criticized the functioning of the AAP government, labeling its directives as fraudulent and questioning its legitimacy.
In a dramatic turn of events, the BJP organized a massive protest at the Income Tax Office (ITO) in Delhi, demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The protest, characterized by fervent slogans and placards, highlighted the BJP's determination to hold the AAP government accountable amidst the ongoing legal proceedings against Kejriwal.
The agitation comes in the wake of Kejriwal's recent custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi Liquor Excise Case, adding fuel to the political firestorm engulfing the capital. The BJP's protest at the ITO symbolizes the party's stance against what it perceives as the misrule and corruption rampant in the Kejriwal-led administration.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari also joined the chorus of criticism, lambasting the AAP government for its governance failures over the past decade. Tiwari remarked, "After being arrested, it is now that Kejriwal has remembered that they could not provide water and sewer facilities to the people of Delhi... They are doing press conferences that they could not provide medicines in the hospitals. They have accepted today that they have put Delhi into a plight in the last 9-10 years."
