Controversy Erupts: Supriya Shrinate Under Fire for Offensive Post on Kangana Ranaut

In a surprising twist, Supriya Shrinate, the chairperson of Congress's social media and digital platforms, found herself in hot water on Monday, March 25, 2024, due to derogatory comments made from her account aimed at Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. The contentious post emerged shortly after the announcement of Kangana Ranaut being awarded a BJP ticket from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

Amid widespread criticism, Shrinate was compelled not only to issue a clarification but also to remove the offensive post. She asserted that her ex-handle had been compromised, leading to unauthorized access for a brief period.

The objectionable post, shared on Shrinate's Instagram account, featured a photo of the actress alongside offensive remarks. The post quickly gained traction, eliciting backlash towards Supriya Shrinate and the Congress party. Following a barrage of online trolling, the post was eventually taken down from the Congress leader's account.

Offering clarification on the matter, Supriya Shrinate took to her Instagram account on Monday evening, stating, "Someone gained unauthorized access to my meta accounts (Facebook and Instagram), resulting in the posting of extremely derogatory content. However, the said post has since been removed. Those who know me personally would understand that such comments about a woman are entirely uncharacteristic of me."

Shrinate also brought attention to the existence of a fake account, adding, "I have become aware of the operation of a parody account on Twitter (@Supriyaparody), which misuses my name. All the mischief originated from there, prompting me to lodge a complaint."

In response to the offensive post, Kangana Ranaut issued a strong rebuttal. Sharing a screenshot of the contentious post from Supriya Shrinate's Instagram account, the actress conveyed her stance. "As an artist, I have portrayed various female characters over the past 20 years," she stated. "Every woman deserves respect," she emphasized.

BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla raised questions, asking, "Will Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge take action?"

BJP leaders sought to capitalize on Supriya Shrinate's alleged derogatory remarks about Kangana Ranaut, with the party's national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla expressing outrage. "This is beyond disgusting!" he exclaimed. "Will Priyanka Gandhi address this issue? Will Mallikarjun Kharge take action against Supriya Shrinate?" he questioned, underscoring the sequence of events leading to the controversy.
