Elderly man allegedly lured her with promise of chocolate
In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage, a 72-year-old man identified as Qamar Ansari has been arrested for allegedly raping a 9-year-old girl in Thane, Maharashtra. The horrific crime took place on April 30th at Ansari's bakery shop, located in the Mahatma Phule Chowk Police Station area.
According to reports, the young victim visited Ansari's shop to buy some items when the elderly man lured her with the promise of giving her chocolate. He then took the unsuspecting child inside the shop and committed the heinous act of rape.
The incident came to light when the traumatized minor narrated the ordeal to her parents upon returning home. Ansari had reportedly given her Rs 10 and threatened to harm her parents if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Prompt action was taken by the child's 42-year-old mother, who immediately filed a complaint with the police, demanding strict action against the accused. An FIR was registered on May 1st, and Ansari was swiftly arrested.
Inspector Shailesh Salvi, while confirming the incident to the media, stated that Ansari has been booked under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 376 (rape), 376A (rape of a woman under 16 years of age), 376B (sexual assault), and 506 (criminal intimidation). Additionally, he has been charged under Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
Following his arrest, Ansari was presented before the court, where he was initially granted a two-day police remand for further investigation. Subsequently, he was sent to judicial custody.
The young victim has been sent for medical examination and counseling to provide necessary support and aid in her recovery from the traumatic experience.
