In a deeply disturbing incident, a 14-year-old girl from a colony in Ghaziabad was found to be pregnant after complaining of stomach pains. Upon medical examination, it was revealed that she had been repeatedly raped by her two elder brothers over the last six months.
The brothers, both adults employed as laborers, would sexually assault the Class 8 student whenever their mother was away from home. They had threatened the minor with violence if she informed anyone about the rapes.
Acting on the mother's complaint, the Tila Mor police have arrested the two accused brothers. The case has also been reported to the child welfare committee for further investigation and action.
The horrific case of sexual assault against a minor by her own siblings has shocked Ghaziabad, raising questions about lack of security even within families. Calls have grown for stern punishment of the perpetrators to serve as a deterrent against such heinous crimes.
