Outrage Over TMC MLA's Threatening Comments Towards Hindu Community

The fourth phase of voting in the Lok Sabha election for eight constituencies in West Bengal is scheduled for May 13. As the election fervor intensifies, some statements have sparked controversy and drawn attention.

A TMC MLA, Humayun Kabir, in a statement, warned the people of Murshidabad against voting against him, invoking communal sentiments. He stated, “Will drown #Hindus in the Bhagirathi River within two hours or leave politics, you are 30% and we are 70% in Murshidabad.”

Kabir, a former IPS officer, went on to say, “I will leave politics if I don't drown you people in the Bhagirathi River within two hours. I will not let you people stay in Shaktipur.” He emphasized that Murshidabad has a Muslim majority, with only 30% Hindus.

Such remarks have raised concerns over hate speech and the use of communal rhetoric in political campaigns. It's crucial for candidates to focus on issues and policies rather than resorting to divisive tactics. Voters are urged to make informed choices based on the development agenda rather than getting swayed by provocative statements.

As the election progresses, it's essential to uphold the principles of democracy, respect diversity, and ensure that all citizens feel safe and included in the democratic process.
