Amit Shah Criticizes Congress for Boycotting Exit Polls, Predicts Massive Defeat

New Delhi, June 1, 2024- Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah has sharply criticized the Congress party for boycotting the upcoming exit polls, predicting a significant defeat for them in the recently concluded elections. Shah accused Congress of being in "denial mode," stating that their campaign promises of achieving a majority were baseless and that they are avoiding the media because they anticipate a poor performance in the exit polls.

In a pointed remark, Shah said, "Congress has been in denial mode for so long... the whole election they kept campaigning that they are going to get the majority, but they know the situation that... in the coming exit polls, it will be their massive defeat so they can't face the media. Therefore, they are boycotting the entire exit poll exercise... exit polls have been happening for a long time but this time, because of the defeat, they don't know how to explain and that's why they are boycotting. Since Rahul Gandhi has taken in charge of Congress, they are in denial mode."

Congress Responds with Justification for Boycott

In response, Congress leader Pawan Khera defended the party's decision to avoid exit poll debates, emphasizing the importance of awaiting the official results rather than engaging in speculative discussions driven by media ratings.

Khera tweeted, "Our statement on the party's decision not to participate in the upcoming exit poll debates: Voters have cast their votes and the voting results have been locked in the machines. The results will be out on June 4. In the eyes of the Indian National Congress, there is no justification for participating in the TRP game by making any kind of public speculation before the results are announced. The purpose of any debate is to enlighten the audience. The Congress Party will gladly participate in debates again from June 4."

Political Tensions Ahead of Results

The exchange highlights the escalating tension between the two major political parties as the nation awaits the official election results on June 4. The BJP remains confident of its victory, while Congress has opted to abstain from exit poll discussions, focusing instead on the final outcome.

This development is set against the backdrop of an intensely fought election season, with both parties vying for public support and legitimacy. The BJP's assertive stance and Congress's strategic withdrawal from exit polls reflect the high stakes and the deeply polarized political environment in India.
