Major Changes to Driving Licences and Aadhaar Updates Starting June 1, 2024

Driving Licence Process Simplified: Obtain licences directly from private training centres.
From June 1, 2024, significant changes will come into effect in India regarding driving licences and Aadhaar card updates. These new rules aim to simplify processes and make it easier for citizens to obtain driving licences and update their Aadhaar information. Here's a comprehensive look at what to expect:

Simplified Driving Licence Process

Starting June 1, obtaining a driving licence will be more straightforward. Instead of the traditional, often lengthy process at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs), individuals can now acquire their driving licences directly from private driving training centres. This new system is expected to save time and increase efficiency.

Additionally, new, stricter penalties for minors caught driving will be introduced:
A hefty fine of ₹25,000 will be imposed.
The vehicle’s registration will be cancelled.
The minor will be ineligible for a driving licence until they turn 25.

These measures aim to enhance road safety and ensure only qualified individuals are allowed to drive.

Aadhaar Card Updates

For those needing to update their Aadhaar card details, there’s an added convenience:
Until June 14, you can update your Aadhaar information online for free. This extension follows the initial deadline of March 14.
After June 14, a small fee will be charged for online updates.

However, updating your Aadhaar details offline at Aadhaar centres will continue to cost ₹50.

These changes are part of the government’s efforts to streamline processes and make them more accessible to the public. Whether you're a new driver or need to update your Aadhaar card, these new rules aim to make your life easier.
