Minister Atishi Marlena Announces ‘Paani Satyagrah’, Begins Indefinite Fast for Delhi's Water Supply

Delhi, India - In a bold move to address Delhi's water crisis, Minister Atishi Marlena has launched the ‘Paani Satyagrah’ and commenced an indefinite fast, demanding an increased water supply from BJP-ruled Haryana. The protest began today with a visit to Raj Ghat, where Atishi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

"I will remain on fast until the people of Delhi get their rightful share of water from Haryana," declared Atishi, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Prominent figures such as Sunita Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh were also present to support Atishi’s cause.

However, the move has sparked a sharp response from the opposition. BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj criticized the Kejriwal government, stating, "The Kejriwal government is indulging only in theatrics instead of working on the ground. Atishi is just threatening Delhiites with an anshan (fast)."

Swaraj further accused the Kejriwal administration of engineering the water crisis, saying, "The water crisis in Delhi is not a natural crisis. It has been orchestrated by the Kejriwal government to encourage their own corruption and illegal tanker mafia."

The protest highlights the deepening political tensions over resource management in Delhi and brings to the forefront the pressing issue of water scarcity in the capital. As Atishi’s fast continues, the focus remains on whether her demands will prompt action from Haryana and address the ongoing water issues faced by Delhi's residents.
