Puri, Odisha, June 19, 2024 – The Ratna Bhandar (treasure trove) of the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri is set to be reopened on July 8, according to the latest announcement by the temple authorities. This highly anticipated event marks the first time the inner chamber will be accessed since 1978.

ASI Superintendent stated, "As per the 2018 report, an inspection was done and cracks were observed, some stones had fallen." This inspection highlighted the need for a thorough examination and potential restoration work to ensure the structural integrity of the chamber.

The Ratna Bhandar, located near the sanctum sanctorum, is considered one of the temple's most valuable assets. It houses several priceless pieces of jewelry, including diamonds, gold, and silver items, which are integral to the shrine's heritage and religious significance.
