Recently, the Congress party faced backlash after posting a misleading tweet about a rail incident in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh. The Congress tweet claimed that a small incident had occurred involving injuries to a loco pilot and some passengers, indirectly blaming the Railway Ministry for the mishap.
The tweet stated: "रील मंत्री जी, एक और छोटी घटना हो गई है। इस बार यूपी के रायबरेली में ये छोटी घटना हुई है। लोको पायलट और कुछ लोग घायल बताए जा रहे हैं। आपकी जानकारी के लिए 👇" (Rail Minister, yet another small incident has occurred. This time it happened in Rae Bareli, UP. The loco pilot and some people are reported injured. For your information 👇).
In response, the Ministry of Railways clarified the facts, tweeting, "Don’t mislead the Nation. Neither the engine nor the driver is of Indian Railways. Please stop demoralising the Railway family."
The Ministry’s statement pointed out that the train in question was not operated by Indian Railways, countering the Congress party’s insinuations. This response highlights the importance of accurate information, especially when public safety and institutional reputation are concerned.
This incident has sparked a debate on the need for responsible communication by political parties, emphasizing the significance of verifying facts before making public statements.
