Supreme Court Halts Madras High Court’s Order for Probe Into Isha Foundation

The Supreme Court on Thursday halted the Madras High Court's orders for a probe into Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation. The foundation had approached the apex court, challenging the High Court's request for a detailed report from the Tamil Nadu government on all criminal cases filed against Sadhguru and his organization.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, heading a bench, expressed concern over the potential impact of such investigations. “You can’t allow an army of police into an institution like this,” remarked the CJI. The bench made the decision after hearing accounts from two women who claimed they were allegedly brainwashed and detained by the foundation.

Following the deliberation, the Supreme Court stayed the Madras High Court's instructions, preventing any immediate police action against the foundation. The legal developments will likely continue as the court reviews the case further.
