Bahraich: The entire village in Bahraich came together to participate in the funeral procession of Ramgopal, who was tragically shot dead during the immersion of the Maa Durga idol. The incident occurred yesterday and has left the community in deep mourning, with local authorities stepping up security measures in the aftermath.

Heavy police deployment has been initiated across the area to prevent any further escalation, while the investigation is actively underway. The police have registered an FIR against multiple individuals, including Abdul Hamid, Faheem, Sahir Khan, Maroof Ali, and Sarfaraz, among others. More than 30 people have been detained so far for questioning in connection with the incident. Additionally, CCTV footage from the vicinity, especially near a mosque, is being examined as part of the probe.

Responding to the situation, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra appealed for peace and restraint, urging the public not to take the law into their own hands. "The public must remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands. Maintaining peace is essential in these times," she stated.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called for the "strictest-ever" action against those responsible for the violence. He emphasized that law and order will be maintained at all costs and instructed the police to ensure that justice is served swiftly. The administration is determined to prevent any further unrest, with security forces patrolling sensitive areas to maintain public safety.

The incident has not only triggered an investigation but also highlighted the need for better crowd management and security during religious processions. Community leaders are urging restraint and unity, as authorities work to resolve the matter.
