PDP's resolution faced immediate, strong opposition from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members, who demanded its dismissal and argued that the abrogation was a decisive and permanent step in integrating Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India. BJP MLAs emphasized the lack of support for PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti among Kashmiris, suggesting that her stance does not reflect the will of the people.
