Bengaluru Police Arrest Prime Accused in Atul Subhash Suicide Case; Investigation Expands

Bengaluru, Karnataka – In a major breakthrough, Bengaluru’s Whitefield Division Police have arrested the three prime accused in the high-profile suicide case of 34-year-old engineer Atul Subhash. The accused—Nikita Singhania (estranged wife), Nisha Singhania (mother-in-law), and Anurag Singhania (brother-in-law)—have been sent to 14-day judicial custody following their production in court.

Arrest and Custody Details
Nikita Singhania, accused number 1, was apprehended in Gurugram, Haryana.
Nisha Singhania, accused number 2, and
Anurag Singhania, accused number 3, were arrested in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

Police officials revealed that the investigation is far from over, as the role of another relative, Sushil Singhania, is under scrutiny. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend him.

Investigation Focus
The police have engaged forensic science laboratory (FSL) experts and a cybercrime team to analyze critical evidence, including a death note, video messages left by Atul, and data from his devices. These steps aim to uncover the extent of harassment and financial exploitation Atul reportedly faced from his estranged wife and her family.

Family’s Emotional Appeal
Pawan Kumar Modi, the father of the deceased, expressed his anguish over the situation. “We don’t know where my grandson is—whether he is alive or dead. I thank the police for arresting the accused, but I still haven’t received justice. A case has even been filed against me in my grandson’s name,” he said, adding an emotional appeal for the custody of his grandson.

He further urged prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, to intervene. “For a grandfather, his grandson is more precious than a son. The whole society is standing in my support,” he stated.

Anticipatory Bail Pleas Filed
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the accused have filed anticipatory bail pleas in the Allahabad High Court. This comes after Bengaluru Police issued a summons to Nikita Singhania, requiring her to appear within three days.

Case Background
Atul Subhash, a software engineer, died by suicide on Monday in Bengaluru. In his note and video, he accused his estranged wife and her family of relentless harassment and financial exploitation, which drove him to the tragic decision.
