Lucknow, February 20, 2025: The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled a record ₹8.08 lakh crore budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year. This budget emphasizes major investments in infrastructure, education, social welfare, and economic development, aligning with the state’s vision of becoming a $1 trillion economy.

Key Budget Allocations

1. Massive Infrastructure Push

  • ₹1.79 lakh crore has been allocated for infrastructure, including the construction of four new expressways to boost connectivity and economic growth.
  • Plans include upgrading urban infrastructure and enhancing transportation networks across the state.

2. Education Sector Boost

  • ₹1.06 lakh crore is set aside for education, with a focus on improving schools, providing scholarships, and expanding digital learning opportunities.
  • The government aims to enhance the quality of education and ensure accessibility for students from all backgrounds.

3. Healthcare Investments

  • ₹50,550 crore is dedicated to strengthening the healthcare system, including better medical facilities and expanded coverage under health schemes.
  • The Chief Minister Jan Arogya Abhiyan will provide free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh for eligible individuals.

4. Agricultural and Rural Development

  • ₹89,353 crore has been allocated to boost the agricultural sector, support farmers, and enhance rural infrastructure.

Major Announcements

Artificial Intelligence City in Lucknow

  • A budget of ₹5 crore has been sanctioned to develop an AI City in Lucknow, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a technological and innovation hub.

Support for Stray Cattle

  • ₹2,000 crore has been allotted for the care and maintenance of stray cattle, alongside ₹140 crore for setting up large cattle conservation centers.

Women Empowerment Initiative

  • The government will provide free scooties to meritorious female students, promoting higher education and mobility for young women.

Urban Transformation with Smart Cities

  • ₹400 crore has been earmarked for converting 58 municipalities into smart cities, improving infrastructure and public services.

Preserving Cultural Heritage

  • Funds have been allocated for the renovation and development of temples, reinforcing efforts to preserve the state’s cultural and religious heritage.

Zero Poverty Scheme

  • The scheme aims to uplift the poorest families in each gram panchayat, ensuring an annual income of at least ₹1,25,000.
