Gas cylinder blast near Miyan Masjid sparks fire; emotional act turns fatal for teenage girl.
Jodhpur, Rajasthan — April 9, 2025:
A heart-wrenching incident unfolded near Miyan Masjid in Jodhpur when a teenage girl tragically lost her life after re-entering a burning house to retrieve her hijab. The fire broke out due to a gas cylinder explosion on Monday evening.
According to local sources, the fire erupted in a residential area near the mosque when a domestic LPG cylinder reportedly leaked and exploded, engulfing the house in flames within minutes. Nearby residents and fire officials rushed to the scene and managed to rescue several individuals, including the teenage girl.
However, moments after being brought to safety, the girl — described by neighbors as a devout follower of Islam — realized she had left her hijab inside the burning room. Overwhelmed by emotion and religious conviction, she ran back into the blaze to retrieve it. Sadly, she did not make it out alive.
Emergency responders later found her unconscious and severely burned. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries while being rushed to the hospital.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the city, prompting an outpouring of grief on social media. Many have expressed deep sorrow while also praising the girl's unwavering devotion.
Authorities are now investigating the cause of the gas leak and have advised residents to take extra precautions with domestic LPG connections. Fire department officials have also issued a public safety advisory on how to respond during similar emergencies.
